Air Conditioner Maintenance Las Vegas
Most people would never go more than 3,000-4,000 miles without changing their car’s oil, but surprisingly enough a lot of people do the equivalent of that with their A/C units.
Servicing air conditioners is important to maintaining not only the reliability of the unit but also its lifetime. Just like changing the oil on a car saves its owner from having the engine breakdown completely and needing a repair or replacement, the same savings can be had with air conditioner maintenance.
The good thing about air conditioner maintenance is that anyone can do it without the same hassle as maintaining one’s engine. Simply changing your A/C unit’s filter every couple of months, or even monthly if your environment requires it, will insure that half of the maintenance is taken care of. The other half of A/C maintenance comes from having an HVAC technician inspect your unit yearly.
At A-Tech Heating and Cooling our technicians complete a range of unit tests and maintenance procedures to insure that A/C units are in top-notch condition.
Our technicians also provide efficiency maintenance for A/C units. Without proper and regular maintenance air conditioners lose about 5% efficiency each year. A year or two after buying an energy efficient unit and not maintaining it ever could actually make it as non-energy efficient as any other A/C unit on the market.
In addition to air conditioner maintenance being able to keep an A/C unit’s efficiency stable at around 95% of its original efficiency for years on end, it will also make your home more comfortable.
Maintenance fees for replacing your filters every couple of months and having your A/C unit inspected yearly are nothing compared to the amount of money you could be losing with a unit that is no longer energy efficient. Not even mentioning the costly repairs or replacements you could be looking at within two to three years of not maintaining your A/C unit at all.
Air Conditioner Maintenance Tips Las Vegas
In addition to A/C filters needing to be replaced regularly by home owners, A/C unit coils also need to be cleaned regularly. This is something we do with yearly maintenance checks, but if it is something you would like to do instead, or more often, then here’s how:
Turn off your A/C unit and then turn off its power. This will insure that the A/C unit is properly turned off before the power cut comes. With no power to the unit you will be able to safely maintain it without risk of damaging it or hurting yourself.
Using a garden hose clean the sides of the A/C unit but do not direct any of the water inside. After the exterior cleaning and wetting is complete get your air conditioner cleaner spray ready. These sprays can be found in local hardware stores such as Home Depot, but we supply them as well. Before using cleaner sprays you should put on gloves, a mask, and safety glasses. Also insure that no children or pets are nearby to be extra careful when applying the cleaner.
The cleaner spray should be applied onto the A/C unit coils as per the directions of the product. After it has aired out for the duration instructed by the product, rinse the solution off completely with a garden hose.
